Keep It (Short) Simple KI(S)S: Focus on What Truly Matters

Simplicity is powerful. It clears the noise, reduces the chaos, and helps us focus on what matters. But before we can simplify, we need to answer a more profound question: What matters to me?

Life offers countless distractions—endless tasks, commitments, and expectations that compete for our time and attention. It’s easy to confuse busyness with purpose, to think that doing more means achieving more. But when we stop and reflect, we often realize that much of what consumes our energy isn’t important at all.

That’s where simplicity begins. It’s not just about doing less—it’s about doing less of what doesn’t matter and more of what does. It requires clarity, the ability to remove the unnecessary, and the focus on what aligns with our values, goals, and purpose.

But this clarity doesn’t happen automatically. It takes time and honest reflection to identify what matters most to you. Is it your family? Your health? Building something meaningful? Living with integrity? Once you know, everything else becomes more manageable. Decisions that once felt overwhelming now have a filter: Does this serve what’s important to me?

Keeping it simple doesn’t mean avoiding challenges or responsibilities. It means prioritizing what brings meaning and letting go of the rest. It means creating space for the things that fill your life with purpose rather than allowing distractions to clutter it.

The beauty of simplicity is that it’s freeing. It allows you to focus, breathe, and give your best to what truly matters. But it starts with knowing what those things are. Take the time to ask yourself: What matters to me? When you know the answer, keeping it simple becomes a practice and a way of life.
