Ego Is the Enemy That Blocks Growth
Ego is a quiet thief. It steals our ability to listen, to admit we’re wrong, and to see clearly where we need to grow. It tells us we’re already good enough and bright enough. Doing so builds a wall between who we are and who we could become.
Growth begins with humility—the kind that says,” I don’t know everything.” Learning requires openness—the willingness to say,” I was wrong.” But ego hates both of those things. It would protect our pride rather than help us improve.
The truth is, wedon'tt lose by being wrong. We lose by pretending we’re always right. Every time we defend ourselves instead of listening and posture instead of learning, we give up a chance to be better. And often, we don’t even realize we’re doing it.
So the real challenge isn’t just to push forward—it’s to get out of our way. We should put our ego aside, even for a moment, and ask: What can I learn here? What am I missing? What part of me is still resisting the truth?
Because on the other side of the ego is growth. And on the other side of that? Freedom.
